Blueprint earth: Where construction meets vision and purpose

At Blueprint Earth, we’ve been reflecting on our evolution which has grown naturally from our roots in Portland’s landscape design community. What started as a small (read: at one point one-person) design studio has expanded into a full-scale firm with multiple designers and two dedicated construction crews.

Meet a couple of our team members! Camille, our ecological landscape designer and project manager, brings a deep understanding of sustainable design. And Brit, co-founder of Blueprint Earth, is not only a talented designer but also leads our construction management efforts. Together, they make it all happen!

We have always designed and built everything in-house, ensuring a seamless process from concept to completion. This integrated approach has opened new opportunities, allowing us to take on standalone construction projects with dedicated project management services. Along the way, we’ve discovered that one of our greatest strengths lies in the meticulous craft of bringing designs to life—while honoring the blueprint of the earth itself.

Every raindrop in Portland tells a story, and we've learned to listen. Our deep understanding of the Pacific Northwest's unique climate shapes how we construct landscapes that work in harmony with nature. While our design roots remain strong, we're expanding our construction services to collaborate with other landscape designers who share our vision for sustainable outdoor spaces. We’ve found that the process and clear communication during construction are what transform a good landscape into an exceptional one.

Eric is our lead foreman, arborist, and co-founder of Blueprint Earth. He is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations on our construction sites and ensures that every project is built exactly as envisioned.

We see construction as a critical opportunity for sustainability, sourcing materials locally and building with longevity in mind. In the construction process, we implement effective stormwater management systems that protect the built elements of the landscape and foundations, keep water on-site, and prevent overwhelming our urban stormwater systems. We also selecting timeless materials like Corten steel and locally harvested juniper. Our construction expertise creates landscapes that withstand our region's weather patterns for decades.

What sets us apart is our technical expertise combined with our ability to see the soul of a design. We understand the subtle intentions behind every line on a blueprint. When designers share their visions with us, they're gaining partners who understand the intention behind forms, materials, and plant selection. We honor the creative process while bringing our construction knowledge to elevate and realize these designs with ethical and sustainable practice. With our deep knowledge of local material sources, we’re able to make thoughtful suggestions, such as using locally harvested juniper, which helps keep the footprint of our designs small.

We've discovered that quality lies in the entire journey and process, not just the destination. It’s about showing up when promised, communicating clearly to keep everyone aligned, and staying up to date on timelines and progress.
